Hendrick Automotive Group News

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (April 18, 2016) – Charlotte-based Hendrick Automotive Group, the nation’s largest privately held automotive dealership group, officially opened BMW of Kansas City South at 1200 W. 104th St., adjacent to Hendrick Cadillac Kansas City and Hendrick Buick GMC Kansas City.

The company now operates seven BMW dealerships throughout the United States, adding Missouri to locations in North Carolina (3), California (2) and South Carolina. Hendrick Automotive Group has 139 total franchises nationally, including 11 in the Kansas City area.

“We started doing business in Kansas City in 1992, and it’s been a priority for us ever since,” said Rick Hendrick, chairman of Hendrick Automotive Group. “As the market has grown, we’ve been fortunate to have the opportunity to grow along with it. Our company now has more than 800 employees in the area, and it’s proven to be a wonderful place for them to live and work. We’ve enjoyed serving our customers and getting as involved as we can in the community. There’s a strong commitment to the people of Kansas City, and we will continue to invest here.”

BMW of Kansas City South offers 150 new and more than 100 pre-owned vehicles with access to more than 30,000 new and pre-owned vehicles at Hendrickcars.com. The primary 34,000-square-foot facility sits on 7.6 acres and offers 16 service bays and provides numerous customer amenities such as free Wi-Fi, refreshments, a snack bar, service loaner vehicles and a courtesy shuttle service to local businesses and area attractions.

“This location is designed to serve a new generation of customers,” said John Desmond, Hendrick Automotive Group market area vice president. “There’s a centrally located social gathering area where customers can relax, grab some refreshments, interact with technology and casually talk to a BMW Genius about the brand. There’s no finance office. The traditional way of purchasing a vehicle is changing.”

Ken Newman, formerly the general manager at Hendrick Lexus Kansas City North, has been named to the same position at BMW of Kansas City South, reporting to Desmond.

“This new dealership is extremely convenient to State Line Road and the population bases located in nearby Leawood, Overland Park, Lee’s Summit and Mission Hills,” said Newman, who has more than 30 years of luxury car experience in Kansas City. “We’re looking forward to showcasing BMW’s terrific lineup of vehicles that includes the new X3 and X5, the iconic 3-Series and the brand’s highly advanced hybrid technology.”
